ASHRAE recognizes individuals from Ottawa and Saint John

Douglas Stuart Walkinshaw, Ph.D., P.Eng., president of Indoor Air Technologies in Ottawa was made a Fellow of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers).
Ali Syed, a mechanical engineer-in-training with Jacques Whitford (now Stantec) in Saint John, New Brunswick was nominated as one of ASHRAE’s 19 “New Faces of Engineering.” The nominees are to appear in USA Today during National Engineers Week in the U.S., February 15-21.
Syed pioneered research on using wind-turbines in Pakistan and developed his own design. After coming to Canada to study for his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Dalhousie University, he performed research for Natural Resources Canada on the feasibility of photovoltaic and wind energy systems in Canada. He now works in green building design.
