Associated Engineering has promoted Chad Maki, P.Eng., to general manager (GM) for its Alberta North operations, based in Edmonton.

With the change effective since July 1, he succeeds GM and vice-president (VP) Helder Afonso, who is retiring after 37 years of service to the employee-owned consulting engineering firm.

Maki has 23 years’ experience in water, wastewater, solid waste, road infrastructure and urban and industrial development projects across Alberta. He began his career at Associated Engineering as a summer student, then joined the firm after completing his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. Over the years, he rose from design engineer to project manager, group manager and division manager for municipal infrastructure.

“Chad is an inspiring leader who promotes diversity and staff development,” says Afonso. “With his strong business development skills, business acumen and vision, Associated Engineering will continue to flourish.”
