Canada’s first spiral escalator opened in November. The escalator was part of a $30-million program of renovations to the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, B.C. The escalator takes patrons arriving via a covered walkway from the Bridgepoint Station on the city’s new Canada Line up to the slot machines. The casino reports it has increased the number of visitors by 15% since the Canada Line Opened.

The curved escalators, made by Mitsubishi in Japan, rise through two floors in 180 degrees.
