CFMS Consulting has appointed Craig Hatch as president and general manager of CFMS Alberta Limited. CFMS specializes in building commissioning. 

BBA consulting engineers of Mont-Saint-Hilaire near Montreal has opened a new office in Labrador City. BBA has been active for over 20 years in Labrador, carrying out major projects in the mining sector.

AMEC has joined the U.K.-led carbon reduction campaign, by which it aims to reduce its worldwide carbon dioxide emissions by 10 per cent before the end of this year. The campaign has enrolled 2,000 businesses, including Microsoft, Adidas and Sony.

The tenant fit out design of Cohos Evamy’s Toronto studio won an honourable mention in the 2009 Livable Buildings program run by the University of California, Berkeley’s Center for the Built Environment. The program showcases buildings with exceptional occupant satisfaction, resource efficiency and overall design. Results were announced in late December 2009.

On February 4, Kathryn Bessie of EBA Engineering Consultants received the Alberta Chamber of Resources Reclamation Citation for a lifetime of achievement in soil science, reclamation and remediation. She has more than 25 years of experience in the field, and recently helped develop and test eco-toxicity limits for compounds referenced in Alberta Environment’s Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines.

Work done by EBA Engineering and Stantec for Cenovus Energy was cited in the Alberta Chamber of Resources’ Major Reclamation Award. Cenovus (previously part of EnCana) won the award its work in the remediation and reclamation of native prairie land that has been used for oil and gas wells.
