Consulting engineering firm Dialog is providing architectural, interior design, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering, sustainable design and landscape architecture services for the Peel Regional Police’s (PRP’s) new 23 Division building in Mississauga, Ont.

PRP officially started the first stage of the project on June 24. It is set to be completed by the end of 2026, at which point it will accommodate more officers than any other divisions across Peel Region.

The region, which also includes Brampton and Caledon, is one of Canada’s fastest-growing. With a larger population have come greater demands to maintain public safety and security and increased community needs.

The building’s core functions will include public-facing engagement, workspaces and a cell block. Dialog’s three-wing design will securely accommodate these functions, with the public-facing wing presenting a welcoming civic face, with the business wing hidden from public view and the cell block facing an outdoor area. The design includes a central, vertical garden and staircase, while outdoor social spaces will face a ravine.

Dialog says it has designed the building to support officers’ emotional well-being through connectedness and opportunities for decompression; to ensure the fidelity of police work; and to provide a safe and healthy workplace by emphasizing ventilation, natural light, dynamic workspaces and nature.

The division is also designed to use sustainable materials, consistent with the region’s net-zero carbon commitment.
