Dr. C. James Montgomery of Cohos Evamy was presented with the 2007 APEGGA Centennial Leadership Award in Calgary on April 27. The award is the most prestigious given by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and is presented annually.

SNC-Lavalin has acquired Aqua Terre Solutions, a specialized environmental consulting practice that has been in business for 15 years and is based in Ottawa. Aqua also has offices in Toronto, Calgary and Saskatoon, with 110 employees in total. Its services include contaminated site assessments, remediation, air quality modelling and occupational health and safety. Another firm acquired by SNC-Lavalin in May is Capital Engineering Inc., located in Chicago. This acquisition is to further the company’s capabilities in the steel and aluminum sectors.

Stantec donated $50,000 to Water for People to mark National Drinking Water Week in early May. Water for People is a North American charity that provides water, sanitation and hygiene support to developing countries. Founded in 1995, it works primarily in Bolivia, Guatemala, and Honduras in Latin America, and in Malawi in Central Africa.
