A group in the U.S. has formed the Critical Power Coalition to represent manufacturers and users in the electrical industry.
The coalition will focus on policy, technology and regulatory issues related to ensuring quality, reliability and continuity of electrical power.
Founding members include representatives of Siemens, Eaton Powerware and American Power Conversion.
The announcement came one year after the August 14, 2003 blackouts that shut down southern Ontario and the northeastern United States. It also follows the recent release of the 9/11 Commission Report that details the investigation of private sector preparedness for terrorist attacks.
