Genivar of Montreal has acquired B.H. Martin Consultants Ltd., a multidisciplinary engineering and architectural firm based in Timmins, Ontario.
B.H. Martin (BHMC) was launched in 1973 and now has 35 people in the Timmins office. It services municipal infrastructure, buildings, mines and the environment. Its clientele includes mining companies Lake Shore Gold Corporation and Baffinland Iron Mines. It also provides services to the Ontario Realty Corporation.
Pierre Shoiry, president and CEO of Genivar, said in the announcement: “This acquisition enables us to establish our growth platform in Northern Ontario and to develop our services in all of our market segments. Northern Ontario is a flourishing, dynamic region, rich in opportunities in all our market segments…”
Marz Kord, P.Eng. of B.H. Martin becomes Genivar’s vice-president for Northern Ontario.
Barry H. Martin, Arch., P.Eng., who founded BHMC, will also stay on with Genivar. He says “I am very pleased with this merger, which will ensure the continuity of our firm and the pursuit of its development within Genivar. Our decision was motivated by the fact that Genivar’s business model focuses on regional development.”
