A $3.7 million project to study a new crossing linking Ottawa and Gatineau in the National Capital Region has been announced.
With funding shared between the governments of Canada, Quebec and Ontario, the study will take three years. A spokesperson at the NCC, which is organizing the project, said they expect to issue requests for qualifications to do the study in the next three or four months.
The bridge is intended to relieve traffic congestion in the downtown cores of Ottawa and Gatineau (formerly Hull). The studies will consider the environmental impacts of various types of crossing and different locations.
