JNE Consulting is designing a $60-million pulverized coal injection (PCI) system for Dofasco in Hamilton, Ontario. In an announcement dated August 24, Dofasco said the system will be used at the two blast furnaces in the Hamilton plant, with work to be completed by January 2009.
The government of Ontario boosted the project by providing a $6 million five-year loan under the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Strategy Program.
The Ontario program provides loans to encourage technological innovation and the creation of jobs. The project should also significantly reduce fuel costs at the plant.
Also based in Hamilton, JNE Consulting works in a variety of industrial sectors including iron and steel, and has offices in Ontario and the northern U.S.
