Canada’s Water Quality Association reports that people living in the resort village of Manitou Beach, 100 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon, are concerned about a new water treatment facility at Little Manitou Lake.
They are afraid that millions of litres of waste water could be dumped into the lake when a new water treatment facility begins operating in October. The lake’s waters reportedly have therapeutic powers, being salty and buoyant, and have reputedly helped suffers of arthritis, rheumatism and with skin conditions. Mineral salts from the lake are harvested and sold to drug stores.
