ASHRAE Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Conference

ASHRAE is now accepting papers for its Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Conference, co-organized by the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre (AIVC), to be held in September 2025 in Montreal. The abstract submission deadline is Nov. 11, 2024.

The event will expand upon the research and discussions of ASHRAE’s earlier Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Conference series, which began in 1986. The theme of the 2025 conference is ‘Rising to New Challenges: Connecting IEQ to a Sustainable Future,’ focusing on increasing our understanding of how occupants respond to various IEQ factors, while enhancing resilience in the face of a changing climate.

“This conference will focus on the relationships between IEQ and sustainability, offering a platform for industry-leading researchers and practitioners to share knowledge,” says Iain Walker, conference co-chair.

“The conference will provide a collaborative framework to showcase advanced technologies, materials selection and their integration into building designs and retrofits,” adds co-chair Jennifer Isenbeck.

The conference steering committee seeks papers on the following topics:

• Performance Metrics: For all aspects of IEQ.
• Occupant Behaviour: How behaviour impacts IEQ and how IEQ impacts behaviour / psychological dimensions of IEQ.
• Smart Sensors, Data and Controls: Sensor properties, data management, cybersecurity, applications, commissioning, equivalence.
• Resilience and IEQ: Responding to climate change and disasters.
• Ventilation: Mechanical, passive, natural and hybrid systems.
• Air Tightness: Trends, methods and impacts.
• Thermal Comfort: Dynamic approaches, health impacts and trends.
• Policy and Standards: Trends, impacts, implications.
• HVAC and IEQ in a post-COVID world.
• Ventilation and building decarbonization.

If abstracts are accepted, complete manuscript submissions are due Mar. 10, 2025.
