In the spirit of ACEC’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the 1999 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards are set to accentuate even more the diversity of the industry, but more importantly, the accomplishments of ACEC members. For this reason, ACEC and CCE magazine have modified two aspects of the program.

Firstly, the rules of admission have been modified. From now on, only ACEC members can submit a project to the awards program for judging. This reflects a need to focus attention on those who participate actively in ACEC through their membership. As well, the project eligibility period is extended by one year, effectively opening the program to projects completed between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 1998.

Secondly, the gala presentation of the Awards will be held in Toronto, at the Westin Harbour Castle, a departure from the traditional gala evening held in Ottawa. This change speaks to the geographic distribution of our membership, which could lead to an annual celebration held in different cities across Canada.

There is still time to submit an entry though the deadline is near. Please use the “Notice of Intention to Enter” on pages 26 or 67. Or you can visit the “Events” page on the ACEC web site to download a copy. Once there, consider also getting on the advance ticket list by filling out the online form.
