Brian H. Conlin, P.Eng. has been made president of Golder Associates. He is responsible for the Canadian company, with 23 offices here and four offices in South America. He will continue to be based in the Vancouver office. He has an engineering degree from Queen’s University and a Master of engineering degree from the University of Toronto.

Gartner Lee has entered a partnership with Tony Keen, P.Eng. of AJ Keen Mining Consultants. Keen is based in Gartner Lee’s Burnaby, B.C. office. He brings an expanded range of environmental management and planning services to the firm.

On January 1, 2000 Nicholas C. Sonntag became president of CH2M Gore & Storrie based in Toronto. Sonntag was previously executive director of the Stockholm Environmental Institute in Sweden, the international policy research and implementation organization. He was senior advisor and chief of staff to the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, and helped formulate the agenda from the Earth Summit. Sonntag has a B.A.Sc. in engineering physics and an M.S.C. in business administration from the University of British Columbia.

Keen Engineering has elected Thomas E. Johnston, P.Eng. as chairman of the board and Kevin R. Hydes, P.Eng. as president. Johnson has been with Keen for 39 years and has been president for 19 years. Hydes, has been part of the firm’s senior management team for 12 years.

Marshall Macklin Monaghan Consulting Engineers has two new partners. Rob Kivi, P.Eng. joined the firm in 1984 upon graduating from the University of Toronto. He is senior project manager in the transportation department. Murray Shantz, P.Eng. joined the firm in 1988. He manages GIS services. The firm also has four new associate partners: Jamie Bennett, Firoz Moolani, P.Eng., Slavek Strzemieczny, P.Eng., and Herman Wimmelbacher.
