BUILDINGS: TELUS BUILDING REVITALIZATION, VANCOUVER
![Bob Matheson, Art & Architecture PhotographyThe elliptical tower soars above its neighbours at the corner of Hornby and Nelson Streets in downtown Vancouver. Much citizen debate has revolved around its height and appearance. Clear glass walls mark the upper condominium portion and dark reflective glass is in the hotel floors below (it was originally designed to be all clear glass). The tower sits on a four-storey podium and is connected to the existing Wall Centre conference centre.](https://www.canadianconsultingengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/2001/08/76419-30651-191x300.jpg)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Mega-Building Risks
![The Taylor Bridge in Headingley, Manitoba was partially designed according to the draft new Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code. Completed in 1997, the bridge uses fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) in its deck slab and girders -- a material for which the new code introduces design guidelines for the first time. Wardrop Engineering's Winnipeg office worked with ISIS Canada on the bridge design.](https://www.canadianconsultingengineer.com/wp-content/uploads/2001/08/76432-30661.jpg)
