CIVIL

Protovale’s CM9 CoverMaster is a microprocessor instrument for testing concrete structures. It simultaneously gives the accurate location of rebars, the measurement of concrete cover, and bar diameter. It will also give the correct depth of cover when the bar size is unknown or has been incorrectly selected by the operator. The CM9 can be used in poorly lit areas such as the soffit of a bridge as it has a backlight in the display screen and bright LED in the search head.

Municipex, a cross-linked polyethylene (PEX-a) water service line by Rehau, is designed for potable water and offers a proven, alternative to copper for buried water service lines. Connections are by standard compression joint valves and fittings. The line is up to six times lighter than copper and has high-impact resistance. Rehau also has released RFH WarmSource, Version 2.06 software for designing radiant floor heating systems.

The pDR 1000AN airborne particulate monitor acts as a sensor to run HVAC equipment only when needed. Made by Monitor Instruments for the Environment (MIE), the unit detects airborne dust, smoke, mist and fumes in measures ranging from 0.001 to 400 mg/m3.

The GTS-600 and GTS-800 are new gas-to-steam humidifiers for large applications by Dri-Steem Humidifier Company. The units have capacities ranging from 75-600 lbs./hr. The company’s new Vapor-Logic3 humidifier controller offers full modulation control of the burner section. It supports Echelon’s LonTalk.

Modine Airsystems has introduced a new line of variable-air-volume, direct-fired, make-up-air units. Designated the QVA/QV series, the units come in 15 model sizes and eight configurations, with Btu per hour capacities ranging from 400,000 to 7 million, and air-flow ratings up to 60,000 cfm.

New thermal and ventilation controllers from Johnson Controls are the Metasys Optimizing Thermal Storage Controller. It features a patented control algorithm that handles load forecasting automatically. The Metasys Ventilation Controller maintains the right level of ventilation for current occupancy levels, avoiding over-ventilation. The Metasys Data Visualization technology allows a user to view weeks or months of data in easy-to-read graphics.

MagneTek Lighting Products has a new line of high-efficiency electronic ballasts for use with T5 lamps. The ThinLine T5 and T5/HO ballasts are designed for one and two-lamp operation with lamps ranging from 14 to 54 watts. The company also has introduced the C242UNV ballast for compact fluorescent lamps for high wattage applications.
