Pond Biofuels develops technologies that grow algae from carbon dioxide and other emissions captured during the production of cement. The algae can be used as a feedstock for biofuels.
The Cement Association of Canada has applauded the announcement that the government would invest in the pilot study, which will be carried out at a plant in St. Marys, Ontario. The investment was done through the FedDev Ontario and involved a federal grant of $1 million.
