Hatch purchases Acres

Two of Canada’s largest consulting engineering firms are now joined. Acres has announced it has accepted an offer to purchase the company by Hatch of Mississauga.
Headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, Acres is employee-owned and has 800 staff in offices throughout Canada and with two offices in the United States.
The Hatch Group is also an employee-owned company, with its headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario. It has more than 5,200 staff and 80 offices worldwide.
The two companies have collaborated on a number of projects already, including on a joint venture called SGE Hatch to pursue a mining and metallurgical project in Atlantic Canada in 2002.
What attracted Hatch to Acres was its strong history in the power, water resource and oil and gas sectors. Acres recently completed the retrofit of two units at the Bruce Nuclear power plant in Tiverton, Ontario, for example. Its experience in that sector will complement Hatch’s strong presence in areas such as mining, metallurgy, infrastructure and energy.
Hatch President Kurt Strobele said in a press release that the clients from both companies stand to benefit from this “unprecedented depth of expertise in a broad range of important engineering sectors.”
Tony Hylton, President of Acres International, said in the press release, “Acres has now gained enormous strength and opportunity for growth with a company that shares similar values and vision to our own.”
Acres and Hatch will continue operating from their own offices as separate companies, but will draw on each other’s resources for different projects.
