BSI, which provides International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification, assessment, training and software, has named consulting engineering firm McElhanney the winner of its 2023 Canada Award of Excellence.

McElhanney is the first winner of the relaunched award following a pause in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic. The award celebrates excellence in business standards.

“The task of selecting a winner was not an easy one, as we were presented with many outstanding nominations from remarkable organizations,” says Pierre Dovala, BSI’s sales director for assurance services. “Each demonstrates a commitment to continual improvement and fostering a culture of excellence.”

In evaluating the nominees, BSI’s review committee considered such key factors as audit performances, management systems and business results.

For its part, McElhanney had achieved certification for ISO 9001, Quality management systems – Requirements, in 2012 and again to an updated version in 2018, based on its commitment to safety, quality and continual learning. The firm’s in-house business management system has helped streamline project management, data collection and risk management processes.
