Honeywell has acquired Carrier’s global access solutions business for US$4.95 billion to enhance its building automation and security business.

The acquisition brings 1,200 employees to Honeywell and expands its software portfolio with Carrier’s LenelS2 (pictured) for commercial and enterprise access, Onity for electronic locks, hospitality access and mobile credentials and Supra for cloud-based electronic lockboxes and scheduling.

“By building on our track record of delivering building automation products, solutions and services globally, this acquisition creates an opportunity for us to achieve faster growth and further margin expansion, while generating better outcomes for our customers,” says Vimal Kapur, Honeywell’s CEO.
