The governments of Canada and Quebec have agreed to invest $70 million over the next five years on a program to conserve the St. Lawrence River.
The governments of Canada and Quebec have agreed to invest $70 million over the next five years on a program to conserve the St. Lawrence River.
The agreement is part of the continuing Action Plant Saint-Laurent that allows an integrated approach to protect the water quality, ecosystem and resources of the St. Lawrence. To carry out this mandate, twelve regional round tables are to be set up as well as an annual forum to bring together stakeholders and users of the St. Lawrence waterway.
The action plan also ensures that the state of the St. Lawrence will continue to be monitored, based on 21 environmental indicators.
The government of Canada will invest $49 million, and the Government of Quebec will invest $20.6 million over the next five years.
