SNC-Lavalin has announced Dr. Hisham Mahmoud as a new executive and member of the office of the president. Dr. Mahmoud will assume the newly created role of Group President, Infrastructure, effective in early 2014. His role will be to oversee all global Infrastructure and related businesses, including Transportation and Operations & Maintenance.

The company made the appointment “after an extensive worldwide search.” Since 2010 he was with AMEC, where he was group president, growth regions, and prior to that, president, environment and infrastructure. He joined AMEC from URS where he played a key leadership role in their infrastructure business.

Dr. Mahmoud has over 23 years of experience with multinational engineering and construction companies, particularly in the transportation, water, buildings, facilities, industrial and commercial, environmental and government sectors.

Robert G. Card, President and CEO of SNC-Lavalin said, “We are especially pleased to be able to announce the addition to the team of someone of Hisham’s calibre with a remarkable depth of talent and experience to lead this new group,” said “As announced at our AGM in May, going forward, Infrastructure is one of our E&C focus markets, along with Resources & Environment, and Power. I know that Hisham’s particular expertise in the infrastructure market internationally and his excellent understanding of the issues and evolving concerns of a company of the size and stature of SNC-Lavalin will serve us exceptionally well in our growth strategy.”
