ADVANCE: Women in Engineering is a virtual event that promotes gender equity, diversity and inclusion in Canada’s engineering sector.
Hosted by Canadian Consulting Engineer, this year’s event will spotlight the accomplishments of successful female professional engineers and encourage more women to join the industry. There will be two keynote presentations and two engaging panel discussions.

Education is a lifelong process. Along the way there are key opportunities to draw girls and women to engineering, give them a strong foundation in the profession, provide valuable support and encourage them to stay and thrive in the industry for the long term. This panel will address some of these opportunities, from STEM camps to high school classes to university enrolment to on-the-job mentoring.

While there are well-known targets for licensing more women engineers, such as ’30 by 30,’ another important goal is to increase the number of women in the profession’s positions of leadership. Closing the gender gap at the governance level is important not only for providing a path to success that breaks through the ‘glass ceiling,’ but also in ensuring Canadian consulting engineering firms have succession plans in place.
